Akshay Kumar posted a bittersweet Instagram pic on Saturday of the holiday he shared with his family in Saint Barthélemy, with the caption: “Another beautiful holiday comes to an end and before getting back to the grind, cherishing some precious moments from the past month… until the next one.” It was a month-long vacation with his family, and from the Instagram pics, looks like it was full of memorable moments. He looks happy with his family – his wife, Twinkle Khanna and kids Arav and Nitara joined him to soak up some rays, swimming in pics of an infinity pool overlooking a beautiful tropical landscape. His wife also posted pics of the family at the beach, the kids playing in the water while Twinkle and Ashkay enjoy some time together on the sand.
She also posted a pic of Ashkay and herself in a funfair ride, sitting in a ferris wheel designed to look like little hot air balloons. We’re happy for Ashkay that he’s been able to take a much deserved vacation after all his hard work! Ashkay and his wife are back to work now – for Twinkle, the holiday informed a thought-provoking article she wrote for The Times of India called “Fifty shades of bigotry.” A racist encounter on her vacation had left her musing about pressure on young women to use skin-lightening creams, which she’s linked to on her Instagram with a pic of her own feet in the sand. Her determination not to let her daughter succumb to the various pressures of sexist and racist expectations of women read loud and clear throughout the piece. Her daughter, who is 5, has a good chance of growing into a strong young woman! In one picture, her daughter is excitedly pointing at her favorite book, The Little Prince, a story about the power of imagination.
As for Ashkay, we’ll soon see him in the movie Gold, where he plays a hockey player on a team which won the first Olympic gold medal for India. Its release date is August 15th. Also upcoming is his role in the movie 2.0, which is set to release in November. Although these are both in post-production now, he still has his work cut out for him with the movies he’s still filming. Kesari, set to release in 2019, is a war drama about the Battle of Saragarhi. Ashkay will play the lead as Havildar Ishar Singh. After that’s over, he’ll begin work filming Housefull 4, keeping the comedy series alive by playing its lead role, Aarush.
After his sunny holiday, we can imagine it’s probably hard to go back to work. A month is enough time to get comfortable in any place, especially if your only job is to relax all day. But we’re hoping Ashkay has been recharged by his sunny escape – he’ll need it for all the work he has ahead of him!
