Bollywood’s biggest producer Karan Johar, often referred to as “KJo,” has succeeded in many of his film
endeavors since he entered the industry in 1989, from screenwriting to acting, producing, and directing.
His latest directing achievement will most likely keep him on that track; Johar has secured Ranveer Singh
to play one of the leads in his upcoming two-hero film, grabbing the industry’s attention while casting
for the second hero continues.
Ranveer Singh is well known for his quirky personality, outrageous outfits, and spontaneity. He has
starred in several award-winning roles in Hindi films, including his film debut in Band Baaja Baaraat in
2010 and his recent success in Padmaavat. Ranveer is one of the highest paid actors in India and has
several films slated for release in the coming months. One of those films is Karan’s upcoming movie
Simmba, scheduled for release in December under Rohit Shetty’s direction. Karan’s upcoming two-hero
story will mark the first time he has directed with Ranveer on set.
A source noted that the two share a great rapport with “mutual admiration.” This was evident at the
2016 Filmfare awards, where Ranveer interrupted Karan’s interviews to joke around, answering
questions for him and blowing kisses to other stars. In a February interview, Karan referred to Ranveer
as being “great at making up” after arguments because of his charming personality, saying that the
phrase “You can’t be upset with me” was enough to diffuse any tension between the director and star.
Fans will certainly look forward to seeing Ranveer’s charm on-screen in Karan’s latest venture.
