We’re all excited for the upcoming movie U-Turn starring Samantha Akkineni, especially now that the first poster for the movie has been revealed. It’s set to release in September, so we will still have to wait a few months to know how the actress has captured her character as a young reporter who gets caught up in the investigation of a series of murders. From what we can gather in the poster, her role is gritty and serious, and her gaze in the poster looks like she’s perfected her thousand-yard stare. The poster is dark and ominous, and gives us every indication that this film will be just as serious and atmospheric as its Kanaada predecessor.
When she posted the photo on Twitter, her caption read, “Here is a film I believe in. Hope you will share the same opinion on September 13th in Telugu and Tamil.” It seems like she is excited about the remake of the critically acclaimed Kannada film of the same name. Critics said it was a film with a lot of thematic depth, but also enough action to keep viewers of all kinds satisfied. The director of the original, Pawan Kumar, will also be directing the remake, so we have reason to hope it will be equally as affecting. He is also known for directing the movie Lucia, which won the Filmfare Award for Best Director – so he’s already proven himself a star of the industry. Samantha is also on the executive team of the film as one of the producers, and we’re hoping her excitement for it will show in its production quality.

Aadhi and Rahul Ravindran will be starring alongside Samantha in the film, with Aadhi in the role of the cop, and Rahul in the role of her boyfriend. Filming has been wrapped up already, and now the crew has started on its post-production work. Samantha has also been busy with the making of a second film, Seema Raja, whose filming just recently wrapped up as well, and will also be released in September. As if that wasn’t enough, she also co-stars in the film Super Deluxe, again which will be released in September. Samantha will be all over the silver screen this fall, and we can’t wait to see what she’s like in these three movies!
Rumor has it that Samantha will be taking a much-deserved break after shooting these films. She’s also known for her philanthropic work in founding the Pratyusha Support foundation and raising awareness for hemophilia, as well as being involved in a number of other charitable causes – so it’s possible she wants to devote more time to the social causes she’s so invested in. However, we’re glad that she has been invested in this movie as well, and hope it shows when it hits the silver screen this September!
